Group Voice Therapy Training (Professional Diploma)

Learn how to use a range of passive and active vocal techniques to improve health and wellbeing. This course enables you to run professional and potentially transformative voice therapy groups using breath, movement, visualisation and a range of vocal techniques including toning and overtoning.

A distance learning option is also available for this course.

Equipment Ordering

Equipment release: 7th November

  • A therapeutic percussion kit is a wonderful addition to your work and all facilitators are required to have one
  • It comprises shakers, rainstick and chimes and a specific sequence is used to help people to come back from a deeply relaxed to a more awake state and will be used at the end of a passive voice bath
  • Good quality professional standard instruments will be hand selected for you and sent to your home

Foundation Module

  • An online course to take at your leisure before the deadline.
  • The key concepts and research underpinning the BAST Method of Holistic Voice Therapy will be introduced
  • Quizzes and interactive exercises help you check your understanding and deepen your knowledge

 

Blended Learning

Virtual Classroom 1 – Theoretical Underpinnings and Interactive Work

16th, 17th, 18th & 19th January 2024 9.30am – 2pm

Many people lead busy lives and time can be short. At BAST we have spent many years refining our training courses to save you valuable time and money but without compromising your learning experience. In fact, we believe that our courses are now the best that they’ve ever been!

The virtual classrooms are a wonderful rich learning environment where we take a deep dive into therapeutic voicework.  You will need to be able to activate your video and audio for these classrooms as we will discuss voice work and the reflective process in depth.  A pair of headphones will also be needed.

  • Unpack the BAST Method in more depth in the comfort of your home
  • Take part in experiential exercises and small group sessions
  • Explore research underpinning how and why voicework can be so effective
  • Experience voice-bath and vocal sessions to understand how the voice affects the mind, body and emotions in different ways
  • Discuss the application of the therapeutic percussion instruments and take part in a fun and interactive ‘shake down’ session!

Coursework & Home Study

The coursework period is where your work really comes to life.  Immerse yourself in the exercises taught and discover how the different techniques affect your own health and wellbeing. Use the reflective method to go deeper into your personal healing journey.  Check-in tutorial sessions with your tutor will enable you to get extra support and deepen your learning.

  • Embark on a wonderful investigation using a range of different vocal and breathwork exercises
  • Explore how, when and why to implement active ‘Vocal Processing Techniques’ in a group setting
  • Articles, quizzes, coursework exercises and training videos support this process
  • Coursework is estimated to take an average of 3 – 4 hours a week

Virtual Tutorial Sessions

Learning deepens and support is given during these valuable 1.5 hour tutorial sessions.  Each one has a different aim, such as helping with techniques, organising case study groups and best practice.

Classroom 2: 16th February 9.30am – 11.30am

Classroom 3: 15th March 9.30am – 11.30am

These 1.5 hour tutorials are held on a monthly basis and offer valuable support and extra learning throughout the coursework process.

In-class Intensive 1 – Group Techniques and Passive Voice Therapy

This is where the work comes to life!  Join us in class for a weekend packed full of vocal exploration and deep learning with voice, breathwork, movement and reflective practice.  Lots of interactive workshops will be delivered and deep discussions will take place throughout the weekend.  It is our aim that at the end of the weekend you will have a clear idea how to deliver a range of different passive and active techniques.

Virtual Classroom 4 – Hypothetical Case Study Sessions

20th & 21st June 2024 9.30am – 2pm

This virtual classroom is devoted to exploring a range of hypothetical case studies to help you to focus your vision for the future and give you confidence to start your case studies. Working in small peer-group breakout sessions you will discuss how you would design different treatment programmes for hypothetical clients. Students tell us that this is such a valuable part of the course because it allows them to run through scenarios and gain another level of understanding.  By the end of this class it is our aim that you will be confident in delivering treatments and be ready to start your case studies.

The first part of this virtual classroom is packed full of vocal exploration and deep learning with voice, breathwork, movement and reflective practice to help you to run a range of different group voice therapy sessions.  We will discover and unpack different approaches and discuss application in depth. The second part of this virtual classroom is dedicated to hypothetical case study sessions.  These sessions aim to help you to focus your vision for the future and give you confidence to start your case study process.

This classroom, held part-way through your case study period, aims to support you with your case studies and answer any questions you may have.  We will also discuss the research project that all students at BAST take part in.  This is a valuable part of our ongoing commitment to further the sound and voice therapy field and to provide opportunities for us all.

We believe that a hands on approach to learning is best however we know that for some this isn’t practical. Most of our courses have a distance learning option meaning you can study from home if you’d like to. You must still be join the virtual classrooms and meet your deadlines.
